History
As one of the most important industrial groups in the region, the Depenbrock Group can look back on over 90 years of company history. The construction company Depenbrock Bau has its origins in Germany, Ostwestfalen-Lippe.
It was here that Karl Depenbrock founded his horse-drawn carriage company in 1928. The company is still family-run, today in the third and fourth generation, and over the years the transport company has grown into a construction company operating throughout Europe, with around 1,400 employees and a turnover of around 750 million euros. The Depenbrock Group offers all services within the construction sector and is represented in 15 locations in Germany, Poland and Denmark.
The group’s success stems from the courage to change and the willingness to expand into new regions and business areas. Initially, the transport company was expanded to include activities within building materials and trading in coal, until the construction company Karl Depenbrock & Sohn was founded in 1961. In the 1980s, the forward-looking company expanded its business activities to include engineering, industrial construction and turnkey construction.
In the 1990s, the building construction and turnkey construction business areas were strengthened with the establishment of several companies. In 2005, Depenbrock established itself abroad for the first time and founded a subsidiary in Poland. Depenbrock expanded into new business areas in 2012 and 2017 with the acquisition of two traditional companies from the civil engineering and water engineering sector: Hecker Bau in Hatten and F + Z Baugesellschaft in Hamburg, which have been active on the market for more than 150 years.
As of January 2021, the two companies have been united under the Depenbrock Group and today constitute Depenbrock Ingenieurwasserbau GmbH & Co. KG. With these new competencies, Depenbrock is taking another step towards growth and establishing Depenbrock Scandinavia based in Aarhus, Denmark, as of March 2021. From Scandinavia, we handle projects within civil engineering, port construction and water construction throughout the Baltic Sea region in collaboration with Depenbrock Ingenieurwasserbau.
